Outpost VFX Appoints Simon Dodd To Board
Dodd has joined the company as it reaches its fifth anniversary of operation, and will lend his experience and business acumen to various areas of the company, including senior management and marketing
Outpost VFX is delighted to announce the appointment of IPA (Institute of Practitioners in Advertising) Fellow Simon Dodd to the Board of Directors as the company looks forward to further growth in 2018 and beyond.
Dodd will also support the Outpost VFX team as it strives to develop a better model for operating in the visual effects sector, based on the key tenets of operating away from capital cities, proximity to centres of excellence in education and a controlled work-life balance for all employees.
“We’re really excited to announce Simon’s appointment to our board of directors,” said Duncan McWilliam, founder and CEO of Outpost VFX. “He brings vast experience and crucial contacts from other, diverse sectors and has a proven track record for guiding organic growth in exciting businesses like ours.
“Day to day, Simon will be providing us with valuable advice on how to build on and develop our brand, approach international expansion plans and much more. In the last six months we’ve seen the Outpost VFX brand and our wider practices rapidly develop under his guidance.
“Most importantly, though, Simon is here to help us implement our vision – that fair treatment of staff in the post-production sector is of the utmost importance and needs to be improved. Far too many companies in the industry have put staff wellbeing and development to the back of their minds, and the sector suffers as a result. We believe that happy and fulfilled artists, producers and engineers create the very best work.”
“I am extremely proud to be asked to join the board of Outpost VFX,” explained Dodd. “In the time that we have worked together I’ve learnt to appreciate just how clever and different Outpost VFX is. In a sector that all too often relies solely on the attractiveness of its end product to seduce people to work in it, Outpost VFX breaks the mould. I’m looking forward to helping it go from strength to strength.”
As well as becoming a fellow of the IPA in 2012, Simon has held senior roles at many leading agencies in the Marketing Communications sector, including TBWA/London, MBA and The Mission plc. He now provides consultative and Non Executive Director support to a range of SME’s in the UK.
