Hear how the first day of one of the best visual effects festivals in the UK unfolded!
We were thrilled to be invited back to the BFX Festival, which is now running in its seventh year.
With some truly inspirational talk across the first day, we thought we'd run through the highlights.
The Festival was kicked off with a keynote from our friends at Dneg, with Creative Director Paul Franklin helming the keynote. Paul discussed where he gets his creative ideas from, which interesting came from everything including Constructivism art to Andy Warhol, 2000AD comics and films like The Thief of Baghdad.
Next up was ILM's Julian Foddy, giving an interesting insight into Spiderman: Far From Home. Outpost followed on the main stage with our talk from Head of VFX Andy Morley and Head of 3D Maurizio Giglioli pairing up to discuss animation and character performance on the Black Mirror Season 5 episode 'Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too'.
Framestore came next, discussing a different insight into Spiderman: Far From Home, while Jellyfish Pictures took a look at their visual development of drones and aliens for the film Captive State.
Finally, MPC finished day one with a fascinating talk about the character development of The Lion King, showing off how 86 different animals were brought to life!
